Julie Thomas joined Facilities Management in 2018 as the Occupational Training Manager. Occupational Training facilitates career enrichment for employees through training, education, and leadership opportunities, as well as collaborating with resources from across grounds to bring unique learning opportunities to FM employees. Julie is enthusiastic about working with these groups to enhance her colleagues' personal and professional wellbeing.

Bobby Putrino joined UVA FM in 2018. He has extensive experience in project management, root-cause analysis, Lean Production, Six-Sigma methodology, ergonomics, EHS compliance, process safety management, and equipment design. He flourishes in team environments and demonstrates strength in relationship building, engineering design, problem solving, training implementation, and employee engagement. Bobby is an OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer, registered as a Responsible Land Disturber with VA Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and is actively involved with the Solid Waste Alternatives Advisory Committee (SWAAC) for the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and the UVA Sustainability Council. Bobby employs a hands-on style that makes him highly approachable and an effective agent for change and program adaptation, innovation, and implementation.

Prior to UVA, Bobby was the Northeast Regional Environmental Health and Safety Manager for Schnitzer Steel Industries, covering multiple states in New England. His career has spanned the private and public sector, to include global recycling, sustainability, naval support, risk-mitigation, and manufacturing. Bobby has been on multiple deployments with the Navy, but now prefers traveling the world in a recreational capacity. Bobby has served on the boards for the Recycling Association of North Carolina, the Virginia Recyclers Association, ASSP, Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council and as a member of Rotary International. Bobby attended Old Dominion University for undergraduate and graduate studies.

Bobby and his wife Jillian live in Albemarle County with their dog Ruxin and welcomed their first child in February of 2020. An active couple, they spend their free time enjoying music, food, family, and the great outdoors.

Mark joined the University of Virginia in 2022 as the Training and Development Specialist Senior for the Occupational Training team with Facilities Management Occupational Programs. Mark has over 15 years of experience in education and training, including experience as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, IT trainer, and corporate trainer. Mark is experienced in leadership training, safety training, instructional design, e-learning development and LMS administration. Prior to UVA, Mark was the Corporate Training and Development Manager for Dynamic Aviation, worked as a Regional Trainer and Patient Experience Manager with Crothall Healthcare, and as a Regional IT trainer for Allied Building products.

Mark earned his secondary degree in Adult Education-Training and Development from North Carolina State University, and his undergraduate degree in Middle School Education (social studies and reading) from the University of Akron. Mark and his partner Polly live in and enjoy Charlottesville sites and attractions. In addition to being a proud veteran of the US Army, Mark is an avid vintage motorcyclist, experimental cook, and is a certified “YouTube Mechanic”.

Sarah Ditulli serves as Training and Development Coordinator for Facilities Management Occupational Training. Prior to joining Facilities Management in 2017, Sarah served in administration and office management with various trades and small businesses. She excels in support, consumer relations, and organization and process management. She holds a bachelor’s in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Training Certification from the Association for Talent Development.

In her current role, Sarah is responsible for the coordination and management of licensing and continuing education for FM’s skilled trades employees and new employee onboarding. She ensures employees and supervisors have the resources and support needed within these programs. She also develops and facilitates of training to fit FM’s diverse needs, as well as assisting the FM Apprenticeship Program with administrative, recordkeeping, and grant funding needs.

Sarah is fascinated by interpersonal dynamics and personality. She has discovered the immense value of psychology in her training career. She is enthusiastic to put her unique spin on the offerings Occupational Training has in store and looks forward to fulfilling the career development needs of the FM community.
