• June 28-August, 2024 — Key Alley area affected
  East Lawn Roof and Railing - Pavilion VI-VIII — alert 1
  
  • On June 28, 2024, scaffolding will be constructed in the stairwell heading to the Key Alley parking court between Pavilions VI and VIII. The scaffolding will leave appropriate means of access and will have a handrail installed. The scaffolding will remain in place for three weeks.
  • Work blocks existing sidewalks, and was reviewed with OUBO prior to blockage.
• June 29-30, 2024 — Newcomb Hall area affected

• May 28-August 16, 2024 — Mechanical Engineering, Jesser Hall area affected
  Jesser Hall Capstone Replacement & Window Abatement/Replacement — alert 2
  
  • Parking Lot west of Mechanical Engineering: Beginning Tuesday May 28 the parking lot behind Mechanical Engineering will be closed off to provide a laydown area for the work at Jesser Hall. The parking lot will be closed off to vehicle access until August 16th.
  • Jesser Hall: Starting on Tuesday May 28, scaffolding will be erected around the entire perimeter of Jesser Hall. There will be overhead protection provided on all sidewalks. All entry and egress into the building will be maintained with covered walkways. The loading dock area will be blocked with scaffolding and a dumpster for the duration. All scaffolding, dumpsters, and construction materials are expected to be removed by August 16th.
  • No impact to existing building exits and sidewalks.
• June 24-December, 2024 — Fontaine Research Park area affected
  UVA Manning Institute of Biotechnology — alert 15
  
  • Scope of Work: 6/24/2024-6/30/24
    • Vehicular and delivery access to Aurbach will be flipped to the western side of the site utilizing the newly created access road from Natural Resources Drive. This access road will be open to the public and kept open all hours. Construction vehicles will also use this road and will be controlled by flagging crews during construction hours.
    • Site fencing will be extended East towards Snyder to capture the parking. Access to Snyder will remain open
    • Blasting and excavation for rock removal will continue.
  • Scope of Work: 7/1/2024-12/1/2024
    • Fencing will be adjusted to open a new pedestrian path from Snyder to Aurbach.
    • Parking in front of Snyder will be restriped to allow for consolidation of the ADA parking for Snyder and Aurbach.
  • Pedestrian and delivery access to all buildings will be maintained throughout all phases of work.
• May 28-August, 2024 — High Energy Physics area affected
  Jesser Hall Capstone Replacement & Window Abatement/Replacement — alert 1

  • Scope of Work: 5/20/2024 - 5/26/2024
    • Line drilling will continue in preparation of rock blasting.
    • Site fencing will be adjusted East to capture parking spaces and all of the existing sidewalk to Aurbach for the installation of storm sewer and other utilities. The pedestrian path from Snyder to Aurbach will be detoured through a protected chute in the parking lot around the work.
    • ADA parking for Aurbach will be relocated West to a location along the existing front sidewalk of Aurbach and new temporary curb ramps will be installed.
  • Scope of Work: 5/27/2024 - 6/30/2024
    • Line drilling will continue in preparation of rock blasting.
    • Site fencing will be adjusted East to capture parking spaces and all of the existing sidewalk to Aurbach for the installation of storm sewer and other utilities. The pedestrian path from Snyder to Aurbach will be detoured through a protected chute in the parking lot around the work.

• May 20-Fall 2024 — Whispering Wall Plaza area affected
  Central Grounds Accessible Path, Phase 1 (Newcomb South) — alert 2
  
  • Pedestrians: A small portion of the Whispering Wall Plaza behind Monroe Hall will be coned off the week of May 20th for construction equipment. See map.
  • Pedestrians: Fencing will be installed around the project area starting on Monday, May 20th and will remain until Fall 2024. The pedestrian path between the construction area and Newcomb Hall will remain open throughout the duration of this project.
• May 20-August 16, 2024 — Physics Building area affected
  Physics Building Renovation — alert 12
  
  • Jamerson-Lewis Construction will be installing gates and existing bollards for construction and emergency vehicle access only to the rear R-2 parking lot behind Physics. The parking lot will be closed to pedestrians starting Monday, May 20 and return to service on Friday, August 16. This closure is to complete utility work, hard scape, curb/sidewalk and paving scope for Phase 3.
• May 22-August 1, 2024 — East Range Dorm, Hotel D areas affected
  Hotel B Low Temperature Hot Water Repair — alert 1
  
  • SL. Williamson Inc. will be installing a temporary roadway in front of the East Range Dorm and Hotel D for visitors as well as all emergency response vehicles beginning on (5/22/2024-5/29/2024) that will connect Rotunda Alley to Green Alley.
  • Utility Distribution teams will mobilize on Tuesday (6/11/2024) and close Rotunda Alley between Hotel B/East Range Dorm and establish site fencing in the area with appropriate signage. Vehicular traffic will begin using the temporary roadway at that point.
  • Utility Distribution teams will make the necessary repairs and anticipate the construction phase to be completed between (6/11/2024-8/1/2024) at which point Rotunda Alley will be reopened upon completion.
• May 20-August, 2024 — Runk Patio, residence halls area affected
  Hereford College 4 Pipe Utility Extension — alert 1
  
  • Phase 1A directional drill pipe installation at Runk Patio starting 20 May 2024.
  • Phase 1A sidewalk closure at Breezeway between Norris, Malone and Johnson Residence Halls starting 27 May through early August.
  • Phase 1B sidewalk impact at the rear of Weedon and Whyburn Residence Halls starting early July-September
  • Phase 2 to impact Hereford Lawn area starting late September-December.
  • Phase 3 to impact Johnson Residence Hall November 2024-January 2025.
  • Schedule to coincide with various ongoing projects within the vicinity and are subject to change with alerts to accommodate.
  • Utility outages to be scheduled and coordinated with HRL for service tie-ins.
• May 20-August 15, 2024 — Alderman Rd., O-Hill area affected
  Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) Phase 3A
  
  • The project team will be mobilizing construction areas west of Alderman Road the morning of Monday 5/20.
  • All parking in front of O-Hill Dining will be closed and fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the parking spaces. Parking will re-open no later than August 15.
  • The area in front of Watson-Webb dorm that was recently demobilized will be fenced off once again.
  • A small section of construction fencing will be installed in the sidewalk between Lile-Maupin, Tuttle Dunnington and O-Hill Dining.

• April 1, 2024-July 1, 2026 — Ivy Rd. north sidewalk area affected
  Ivy Corridor Landscape and Infrastructure Phase 2 — alert 2
  
  • Starting Monday, April 1st, the sidewalk on the north side of Ivy Rd. will be closed from Copeley Rd. to the UTS Blue Line bus stop. This sidewalk closure will remain in place until the completion of the Karsh Institute of Democracy, anticipated for Q3 2026. The pedestrian route on the south side of Ivy Rd. will remain open.
• March 25, 2024-Fall, 2025 — Fontaine Research Park Parking Garage area affected
  Fontaine Research Park Parking Garage Project — alert 2
  
  • In support of the Fontaine Research Park Parking Garage Project, a site enabling project is required to provide a new pedestrian sidewalk for building egress and to relocate ADA parking associated with the 400 Ray C Hunt Drive building.
  • Starting on Monday, March 25, 2024, the contractor will mobilize on site to start the installation of the new pedestrian sidewalk. The contractor will install perimeter construction safety fence to encompass the landscaped area at the Southwest corner of the 400 Ray C Hunt Drive building. See Exhibit 1 on page 2 of this construction alert.
  • After the new pedestrian sidewalk has been installed, the contractor will start the installation of the new ADA parking associated with the 400 Ray C Hunt Drive building. The contractor will install perimeter construction safety fence to encompass the roundabout area at the Southwest corner of the 400 Ray C Hunt Drive building. See Exhibit 2 on page 3 of this construction alert.
  • There will be typical construction equipment noise associated with this work.
  • All building means of egress will be maintained during construction.
• January-July 30, 2024 — Alderman Rd., Scott Stadium area affected
  Scott Stadium Video Board Upgrade — alert 1
  
  • Future intermediate road closures likely and will be communicated with future alerts.
  • Alderman Road east drive lane and east sidewalk temporary intermediate closures
  • Fenced no parking area through 07.30.2024
• January 15-December, 2024 — Crispell Dr. area affected
  UH Guided Ultrasound & MRI Relocation — alert 1
  
  • Starting Monday, 1/15/24, a contractor will begin assembling fencing and scaffolding in the emergency vehicle parking spaces along Crispell Dr.
  • Crispell Dr will remain open in both directions, there will be temporary lane closures with flaggers to direct traffic to allow safe fabrication of construction fencing.
  • Crispell Dr sidewalk will always remain open. Spotters will be onsite to ensure pedestrian safety during fencing and scaffolding assembly.
  • Fencing and scaffolding will be in place from 1/15/24 through December 2024
• October 16, 2023-Summer, 2024 — Thornton Hall, Stadium Rd. area affected
  Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) Phase 3B
  
  • The parking lot on the northeastern side of Thornton known as East J will be closed and construction fence will be put up Monday, October 16.
  • Egress from all exits from the building and pathways for pedestrian travel through the lot will be maintained. However, the lot will be closed to all non-construction related vehicles.
  • The sidewalk between Thornton and Stadium Road will be closed, and an alternate pedestrian route will be provided.
  • This phase of the project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024.
